Financial Aid
Binghamton University, as a state-assisted institution, offers an excellent
education at an affordable price. International students are required,
as part of the application process, to show that they have sufficient
funds available to support themselves during their studies.The amount
and source of funds are also shown on the Certificate of Eligibility(I-20
or IAP-66) needed to apply for F-1 or J-1 visas.
The cost of attending Binghamton University changes each year, due to
fee increases and other inflationary factors. In addition, students
planning to bring a spouseand/or children are required to show additional
funds for those individuals.

Financial Aid for Undergraduate Students:
At the present time, the vast majority of financial aid for undergraduate
applicants is based on finanacial need, and is restricted to applicantswho
are either U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Therefore,undergraduate
international students should be aware that their academic and living
costs will need to be provided by personal or family funds, or a private
sponsor.

available to international students, but the earnings from such employment

Financial Aid for Graduate Students:
Over one-third of Binghamton's graduate students receive some form of university
funding. For international students, more than half receive some form
of university funding. Assistantships, fellowships, or tuition scholarships,
all based on merit, can significantly reduce the cost of graduate study. Such
funding is awarded by individual academic departments or programs. Therefore,
you should indicate your desire to be considered for such aid on your graduate
application form.
